Go Home Lake is in the Township of Georgian Bay, District of Muskoka. The lake is only 90 minutes north of Toronto and 30 minutes south of Parry Sound via Highway 400.

Its history as a cottage started in the late 1950s when the old Department of Lands and Forest surveyed and subdivided Crown Lands along the lakeshore. These lots were subsequently auctioned off in public bids until the early 1960s. Many of these original cottages remain and give the lake a unique charm.

There are about 430 cottages on the lake, the overwhelming majority of which are water-access only. Two marinas, Go Home Lake Marina and Minors Bay Marina, serve the lake.
